Choir Microphone- one of the most necessary yet misunderstood microphones that churches use!
Condensor microphones are the best choice as they are capable of picking up voices up to 7 feet away. Cardioid pickup patterns are the most commonly used as they pick up sound only in front of the mic, in about a 60 degree cone. Vocalists within that area or cone will be picked up better than those outside of it. Another consideration is whether you use stands or hang the mics from the ceiling. If it is a temporary setup stands are a good choice. For a permanent setup you should hang them from the ceiling. You never have to worry about them being in the wrong position when hung, and it is much more aesthetically pleasing.
