Recording CDs - Should I add tracks, and if so, how many?
When deciding whether or not to add tracks to your recordings, you just need to ask yourself one simple question: What will the recording mostly be used for:
If you will be distributing CDs of this recording, we recommend adding tracks.
If you are recording to upload directly to MessageShare™ or another program for listening online, it's probably best to not use tracks. Having your message on one track will be easier for people to upload and download the message in its entirety.
If you decide to add tracks, we recommend adding tracks at specific time intervals (for example, a track every minute or every 5 minutes). Be selective when using Auto Tracking where a track is automatically inserted every time the speaker pauses - you might end up with 80 tracks in a 20 minute message! Different recorders have different options for adding tracks so it's important to know what you want when buying a recorder. |
